Critical illness insurance is a form of insurance that provides a tax-free, lump-sum payment to you when you survive 30 days following the diagnosis of a covered medical problem.

Immediate financial consequences can include:

Absence from work
Cost of treatment not covered under your provincial health plan
Homecare
Your children's education
Forced early retirement

About the Insurance

This insurance is available to individuals between the ages of 18 to 65
Benefits range from $25,000 up to $2,000,000
Your are covered to age 75 and some plans cover you to age 100
The benefit is paid directly to the owner of the policy, tax free.
Payment of the benefit is based on the medical diagnosis of a certified physician and is not dependent on your inability to work.
If you don't survive the 30 days, or death occurs from a condition not covered by the plan, most plans will return your premium paid.
